Somerzby cat enclosures reviewed
Somerzby carries the largest Australian brand term in this category and it lists 12 cat models, more than any other seller here. It also publishes the largest number of figures that disagree with each other, and since the whole point of a specification is that you can rely on it, that is where this page starts.

The full range
Every Somerzby cat enclosure, cheapest floor first. Floor area is computed by this project from Somerzby's own published dimensions, because Somerzby publishes no floor area and neither does anybody else in this category. Capacity is Somerzby's claim, not a measurement.

Mesh aperture is published on 5 of 12 models, wire thickness on fewer, warranty on 0 and freight on 0. A floor area could be computed for 11 of 12. Somerzby's site returns a 403 to automated fetching, so these pages were read through a reader proxy; the figures are Somerzby's own published text as that mirror rendered it.
Four places Somerzby's own listings disagree
None of these is an accusation. They are what a buyer finds by reading two product pages from the same seller side by side, and they are published here because nobody else does it.
- The Castle and the Homestead are the same box at different prices and different capacities. Both publish external dimensions of 2170 by 2880 by 1800 millimetres and the same ground footprint, which gives both a computed 4.50 m2. The Castle is $82 dearer and is claimed for 4 cats; the Homestead is claimed for 3. On top of that, the Homestead publishes its mesh as 11 x 11 millimetres at 0.9 mm wire thickness, and the Castle, with identical dimensions, publishes no mesh figure at all.
- The Majestic publishes two different heights on one page. External height is published twice and differently on the same page: H1780mm in the main figure and H1840mm to the top of the decorative piece. We record the main figure and note the other, because a 60 millimetre difference matters to anyone measuring for a carport or a side passage.
- The Oasis Catio publishes nothing. At $320 it is the cheapest cat enclosure Somerzby sells and the only seller page we could read in this entire dataset that publishes no dimensions at all, no mesh aperture and no weight. Its sibling the Somerzby Manor Catio at $350 publishes 1800 by 1800 by 1800 millimetres and 20 x 20 millimetre netting. Nothing on the Oasis page says whether it shares those figures, so we carried nothing across and it has no floor area here.
- The Mansion's dimensions exist only inside an image. They are not on the page as text. They are labels on the dimension artwork, which is Somerzby's own published material, so we read them off it and said so. That artwork gives a ground length but no ground width, so the footprint could not be used and the Mansion's area had to come from the external figure instead.
Which means two of our own numbers are not directly comparable. Where Somerzby publishes a ground footprint we used it, because the external figure includes roof overhang and a nest box. Where it does not, we used the external figure and the area is generous. That is why the Somerzby Mansion Cat Enclosure shows 2.12 m2 and the Somerzby Deluxe Mansion Cat Enclosure, which shares its published external dimensions and costs $143 more, shows 1.57 m2. The Deluxe is not smaller. It is the one of the pair that publishes a ground footprint. Each record in the dataset names the basis used, and a figure computed on a different basis should not be read as a difference in the product.
What you are actually buying
Timber framing with wire mesh on most models, with the run open to the weather and a roofed nest box at one end. That shape comes from somewhere: the Deluxe Mansion ships with two wooden perches that Somerzby says do not need to be installed when it is used for cats, which is a chicken coop chassis sold into the cat market. It is not a criticism of the timber, it is a warning about the floor plan. A nest box raised 620 millimetres off the ground is not floor area, and the run door on several models is well short of walk-in height, so cleaning means kneeling.
Two models break the pattern. The Somerzby Manor Catio and the Oasis are netting over a frame, which is why the Manor reaches $108.02 per square metre while the timber models sit between $257.55 and $561.54. The Somerzby Tower Portable Cat House is the other outlier: at 0.65 m2 it has the smallest floor area of anything collected, which makes it the most expensive square metre on the entire site at $561.54. Read that as the price of building upwards on a balcony, not as a bad unit. It is 1.8 metres tall with three shelves and it is the one Somerzby currently discounts, from $426 to $365.
Mesh is the specification that matters most and Somerzby publishes it on 5 of 12 models, which is better than most of this market. The spread inside one brand is wide: 10 x 10 millimetres on the Somerzby Condo Cat Enclosure against 25.4 x 25.4 on the Tower, more than double the aperture at a similar price. Somerzby also gives the closest thing to a wind caveat found anywhere in this category, telling Manor Catio buyers to secure it to the ground in windy areas. That is an instruction, not a rating, and like every other seller here Somerzby publishes no wind rating at all.
Somerzby and Coops and Cages are substantially one catalogue. Multiple models appear on both sites at identical prices and are served from identical image paths. One seller lists as "Resort" what the other lists as "Mansion", at the same price. The overlap covers Condo, Stacey, Castle, Tower, Resort and Mansion. Checked 2026-09-12.
Our own product table records only each seller's exclusive models, so the duplication is not visible in the table itself. It is reported here because a buyer comparing the two believes they are comparing the market when they are comparing one supplier with itself. So the table above will not show you this: it lists Somerzby's own models, and our Coops and Cages records were deliberately limited to that seller's exclusives to avoid recording the same unit twice. The finding comes from comparing the two catalogues directly during sourcing. If you are cross-shopping the two, you are negotiating with one supplier that has two shopfronts.
Who it suits
Someone who wants timber rather than mesh and steel, who is buying a shelter as much as a run, and who is prepared to measure from the ground footprint rather than the headline size. The range is wide, the tighter mesh models are genuinely tight, and at KD 0 for its own brand term Somerzby is the name most Australians search for. Somerzby pays us nothing, has no affiliate program and will not have one, which is exactly why this page can say that the capacity claims do not hold and the Oasis should not be bought sight unseen.
If the priority is the most contained floor per dollar, the brand comparison ranks every seller on the same basis, and the cheapest square metre in the country is not a Somerzby.
Common questions
Which Somerzby gives the most enclosure for the money?
On floor area, the Somerzby Manor Catio at $350 for a computed 3.24 m2, which works out at $108.02 per square metre. Only 3 of the 54 priced enclosures on this site beat it. It is netting over a frame rather than timber, and it was listed out of stock on the date we checked. The cheapest timber model per square metre is the Somerzby Mansion Cat Enclosure at $257.55.
How many cats does a Somerzby enclosure hold?
Somerzby claims a capacity on 4 of its 12 models, and those claims do not track floor area. The Somerzby Castle Cat Enclosure at $1,262 and the Somerzby Homestead Cat Enclosure at $1,180 publish identical external and ground dimensions, which give an identical computed 4.50 m2, yet Somerzby claims 4 cats for one and 3 for the other. Treat capacity as marketing copy, work from the floor area, and allow for the fact that a nest box is not floor a cat can walk on.
Is Somerzby the same as Coops and Cages?
We make no claim about ownership. What is checkable is that Somerzby and Coops and Cages sell substantially one catalogue. Multiple models appear on both sites at identical prices and are served from identical image paths. One seller lists as "Resort" what the other lists as "Mansion", at the same price. Checked 2026-09-12. The practical consequence is that pricing a Somerzby against a Coops and Cages is not a second opinion.
What does Somerzby delivery cost, and is there a warranty?
Neither is published on the product page. Somerzby names its carriers, Border Express with smaller parcels by Aramex or Australia Post, and states dispatch in 1 to 2 business days, but publishes no dollar freight figure on any of its 12 models. It links to a warranty page from every product page without stating a period on the page itself, so warranty is recorded here as not published on 12 of 12. On a unit that ships in five cartons weighing 119kg, freight is the number most likely to change the decision.
